Robert is a Chartered Town Planner with over 25 years’ experience of planning and development consultancy in Scotland.
He was a founding partner of niche planning consultancy Muir Smith Evans and joined Ryden in December 2017 when the two firms merged.
Prior to founding Muir Smith Evans in 2004 Robert was a planning director for Turley, responsible for the Scottish business unit and prior to that worked as planning consultant with BDP and Drivers Jonas.
He has extensive planning and property consultancy experience including management of large multi-disciplinary teams, tailored public consultation, large scale masterplans and sensitive commercial development projects. He has keen judgement on identifying key issues early in the process.
Robert has a proven track record in delivering strategic planning advice, delivering planning permissions for clients. He is a multi-disciplinary team player at senior management level with knowledge of the statutory planning system and key contacts with senior officers in Scottish Government and Local Planning Authorities.
His experience across industry sectors includes commercial development projects, Masterplanning, Development Plan Representations, Applications, Appeals and Public Inquiries, Retail Impact Assessments, Consultations, Heritage, Energy, Waste and Environmental Impact Assessment.
He is Planning Group lead partner at Ryden.
