As an identified project within the Aberdeen City Centre Masterplan, the project will transform the Victorian park into an inclusive visitor attraction, improving access, amenity and activity whilst enhancing its listed structures and heritage features.
New buildings
Construction of three new pavilions incorporating cafe/restaurant use and flexible events space and restoration of the Victorian arches to create new exhibition galleries.
Connections
A new plaza will be formed at Rosemount Viaduct, connecting the gardens with Union Terrace and His Majesty's Theatre. These interventions will be linked via a new network of paths and accessible elevated walkways.
Applications
Submission of applications for detailed planning and listed building consent. Participation in a series of pre-application consultation events with the public and key stakeholders, preparation of EIA Screening and input of technical and environmental information. Delivered consent for Aberdeen City Council.
