Ryden | Planning

On behalf of the University of Aberdeen, Ryden Planning has submitted applications for Planning Permission and Conservation Area Consent for the former Johnston Halls of Residence in Old Aberdeen, which have been vacant for a number of years and are no longer suitable as student residences.

The University of Aberdeen Business School is currently dispersed around the existing Campus, and the intention of the university is to repurpose an existing resource to create a new ‘purpose built’ Business School.

These proposals involve the demolition of the existing refectory building and its replacement, on the same footprint, with a new pavilion housing reception and teaching facilities. Extensive refurbishment and change of use are also proposed for the adjacent Halls of Residence to provide office accommodation for staff and students.

Additionally, the project involves improved landscaping and public realm works.
